Friendly, professional and quality-conscious, Bowles is a non-profit making charity, established in 1964 to contribute to the educational development of young people through the experience of adventurous activities.

Situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty, Bowles has many facilities which create a safe, supportive but challenging environment:

» dormitory accommodation rebuilt in 2004, designed to give warm and secure accommodation for 72 in attractive four bedded rooms.
» en suite accommodation sleeping up to 24 in 8 twin and 8 single rooms.
» two large, floodlit, open air ski slopes, each with a variable speed ski tow, water lubricated for realistic ski-ing
» Bowles Rocks, a long natural sandstone outcrop, up to 15 metres high, with over 150 climbs of all grades, and facilities for abseiling
» three ropes courses, a zip wire and a wide range of initiative exercises.
» an indoor, heated swimming pool, including a moving water jet to simulate whitewater canoeing
» a range of recreational and relaxation facilities including games room, common room, shop, all weather pitch and bar
» five fully equipped classrooms and lecture hall with modern audio-visual facilities

Off site activities take place in the attractive countryside surrounding the centre:

» Hornshurst Woods and other local areas are accurately mapped for orienteering
» canoeing takes place on the river Medway, on local reservoirs or on the sheltered meanders and the Sussex coast at Cuckmere

There are 12 full time instructional staff. Bowles is accredited to the international quality standard ISO 9001 and takes a pride in providing a consistently professional, customer orientated service.
