About us
The British Schools Exploring Society has a long and proud history of youth exploration stretching back over 75 years. Today it remains a thriving membership society populated by those who have caught the exploring bug! We hope that for most of our Young Explorers joining their first expedition is only the beginning of their ongoing involvement with expeditions and the society. BSES Expeditions is a youth development charity which aims to provide young people with inspirational, challenging scientific expeditions to remote, wild environments and so develop their confidence, teamwork, leadership and spirit of adventure and exploration. The BSES 'Next Generation' scheme targets young people who would not usually have the self-belief or opportunity to participate in expeditions such as ours, and actively encourages and facilitates their involvement. Since September 2006, Next Generation has engaged these young people in a fully mentored and supported 11 month programme of outdoor and expedition skills training, in preparation of a five week wilderness expedition. The BSES runs expeditions to some of the wildest, most rugged and beautiful places on Earth, from the lush Amazon Basin to the high-altitude Indian desert region of Ladakh. BSES seeks the very best staff to continue its mission of providing young people with incredible expeditions to beautiful parts of the world, equipping them with self-confidence, leadership skills and the spirit of adventure. |
