Working for us
Open from March to September we provide educational courses for both senior and junior students from more than 60 countries. The variety of courses available range from General English for senior students aged 16+ with a business or IELTS training programme to a complete Young Learners programme for students aged 8 - 11. The most popular course being the English with Sports option for junior students aged 12 - 17. The College residence can accommodate up to 450 students onsite with an additional 200 students living in local homestays. Harrow House students live in an ideal environment in which they can study, relax and have fun seven days a week. Due to the unrivalled facilities at Harrow House, which are open until late in the evenings, students are spoilt for choice and can participate in a wide selection of activities. Harrow House, unlike many centres, recruits specific staff for either EFL or sports/activities teaching. This enables us to welcome highly trained and motivated staff for particular roles and allows our employees to focus on their strengths and interests. In addition to our permanent year round staff base, both the Sports/Residential and English departments recruit a minimum of 25 additional staff each for the busiest period of mid June to the end of August.
Our Location
Staff members receive a full induction and a high level of support through their stay with us. We are proud to have a very high staff return rate which adds continuity and enables us to maintain a strong support network in all areas. Thorough and detailed staff guidelines are provided pre-arrival which coupled with our established department timetables means a clear and easy to follow rota of duties. You will receive constant support and training from management and senior staff as well as being able to develop your confidence and teaching skills. The summer will be busy and we expect our staff to work hard, thriving on the atmosphere and challenge. There are regular and varied staff social events, ranging from boat trips to cricket matches (including beer and BBQ) to staff shows. It's not all work!! Swanage, located in Dorset is the capital of the Isle of Purbeck. Close to Bournemouth and Poole it is approximately 2.5 hours from London. It is a popular seaside resort with sandy beaches, breathtaking coastal scenery and a lively town centre. Harrow House occupies an elevated position, enjoying splendid views of the surrounding Purbeck Hills, the sea and the Isle of Wight. The town and beach are within 8 minutes walking distance. Harrow House is the only language school in Swanage and therefore our students are guaranteed maximum integration with the English way of life in a safe and friendly community.
