The south west of England has lots of cultural highlights to offer such as the historic cities of Plymouth, Exeter and Bristol as well as the stunningly beautiful Dartmoor National Park, Eden Project and Cornish coastline - world famous for surfers!

LAL Torbay
LAL Torbay (formerly known as Torbay Language Centre) was founded in 1984. Our purpose-built and newly-improved school provides the ideal language learning environment. The school has more than thirty classrooms, a dedicated internet study, a listening centre, student lounge and student cafe. The school and its programmes have been specifically designed so that adults and young learners are able to study and socialise separately.

Within walking distance of the school are our two popular student residences, Hunters Lodge and Matilda House, both recently renovated.

LAL Summer Schools

Kelly College
Kelly College is situated on the outskirts of the picturesque market town of Tavistock, located on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. With well-equipped traditional classrooms, the school includes a brand new performing arts centre. There are five separate residences, accommodating from 2-6 students per room.

In each two week period, there is one full-day and two half-day excursions to local points of interest. Beautiful, large grounds give students the opportunity to enjoy a full range of sports, and there is a heated, indoor swimming pool.

Students may also choose to enhance their stay by subscribing to the Kelly Adventure Centre where they can enjoy activities ranging from canoeing to rock climbing.

Taunton School
Founded in 1847, Taunton School has everything! Just five minutes' walk from the lively and attractive town centre, Taunton is in the heart of the beautiful west-country, yet just three hours from all the excitement of London.

Behind its magnificent Gothic architecture, Taunton offers highly modern facilities including state-of-the-art classrooms, high-quality sports halls, two heated swimming pools, a multitude of tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts all set within the schools expansive grounds.

Taunton Canonsgrove
This is a new addition to our summer centre portfolio. Canonsgrove offers students single room accommodation with en-suite bathroom facilities off-site, along with a sports field, indoor sports hall and common room facilities.

Taunton School classrooms and other facilities are used for these students with LAL providing free transport to and from the residence.

This centre focuses on the older age range of students (14-17 years) and class sizes are reduced to a maximum of 12. Students also enjoy an extra excursion bowling and to the cinema.

Staff at Taunton & Canonsgrove can also join the school sports centre for £20, giving them access to a fully-equipped gymnasium and swimming pool.
