| ABOUT LORD'S | WORKING AT LORD'S | FIXTURES |
|
Lord's has long been seen as the 'Home of Cricket' and the game's spiritual 'headquarters'. But its importance is not merely historical. In practice it remains, to this day, perhaps the most important single place in world cricket. Its owner, Marylebone Cricket Club, remains the guardian of both the Laws and the Spirit of Cricket, and MCC sides (which play around 500 games a year) perform a key role in promoting cricket - in Britain and elsewhere. In addition, Lord's is the home of Middlesex County Cricket Club and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), as well as the European Cricket Council (ECC). It is also the setting for the state-of-the-art MCC Indoor Cricket School, the unrivalled MCC Library and the world-famous MCC Museum - where exhibits include the Wisden Trophy and, of course, the Ashes urn. Above all, Lord's is the setting for some of the best cricket in the world. It hosts npower Test matches and NatWest-sponsored one-day internationals plus most of Middlesex's home games, some historic fixtures (such as Oxford v Cambridge) and the village and club finals. Lord's also has one of the largest and finest, dedicated cricket shops in the country. Open daily, as well as on match-days, the Lord's Shop provides everything from unique Lord's souvenirs to cricket bats and equipment, including expert advice on what best suits you. Looking forward, it will be the archery venue when London stages the London Games in 2012. |

Since 1814, Marylebone Cricket Club at Lord's Cricket Ground, has been recognised as one of the most famous, prestigious and exclusive members clubs in the world, especially in sporting arenas. In the world of cricket, it is regarded as the ultimate venue, a Mecca for cricket players and fans to visit each year and enjoy the Lord's experience.
In January 2005, the Club took what was regarded then as an unusual step, in placing the Catering department 'in-house', meaning that if you work within Catering, you will then be working for the Marylebone Cricket Club, and all of the history, prestige and reputation that comes with that. Over the past three years, the club has invested close to £20,000,000 in refurbishments of key areas in the Member's pavilion, restaurants, bars, kitchens, corporate boxes, and purchasing of equipment. Cricket is our main priority and providing our guests with the ultimate Lord's experience is our aim, but we also have a fantastic reputation, built over the past three years, for our Meetings and Events department. In fact, revenue in this area has tripled in the past three years alone. We are especially busy for the major matches when we require up to 600 staff in all areas, so you can work only for a five day period and we have also ongoing casual work in all areas if that suits you better. We are fairly flexible with hours and availability, and can provide good hours with a lot of work to the right people. If you are interested in working for the Marylebone Cricket Club at Lord's Cricket Ground, then please apply following the links. We look forward to meeting you and talking about how we can help each other. |
