About us

Our large coastal lake is the perfect location to learn watersports. We set up in 1986 to teach windsurfing and sailing. Constant winds straight off the sea, or from the vast expanse of the Romney Marshes has made it the premier spot for watersports. Over the summer months when inland lakes are becalmed we're blasting in sea breezes.

Five years ago we set up Rye Watersports Kitesurfing School. Our experience in teaching windsurfing and sailing, and detailed knowledge of the coastline has enabled us to offer the very best kitesurfing tuition in the South East. With the golden beaches of Camber Sands only minutes away, our beautiful lake location, and the Medieval town of Rye nearby we feel we have everything to offer.

Wind Surfing

Windsurfing has changed dramatically since it first hit the watersports scene in the 1970’s. Learning then was a serious challenge! Now with wide style boards, light rigs and up to date teaching methods our clients can be windsurfing with confidence in a few hours. On our safe coastal lake with a team of dedicated instructors the learning curve is quick and fun. All windsurfing tuition is run along RYA guidelines and we use the 'Fast Forward' programme. This method of teaching has been developed by the top windsurfing coaches in the UK, who have applied the latest theories in sporting science.

Kite Surfing

Kitesurfing courses and private kitesurfing lessons run daily from end March to November at our main teaching beach, Camber Sands, Sussex and on the Kent coast. We are a BKSA approved kitesurfing school, and whether you live in London, Kent or Sussex it’s easily accessibly by car or rail. Our long experience in teaching windsurfing and sailing, and detailed knowledge of the Kent and Sussex coastline enables us to offer the very best kitesurfing tuition in the South East. We have an experienced team of permanent instructors, 'Kiteworld' Test Riders and instructors who teach at global centres during the winter months when our centre is closed.

Sailing

Our dinghy sailing school has the safety of a land locked water area, but you can smell the salt in the air! Dinghy sailing is one of the best ways to relax and unwind. There is enormous fun in getting to the stage where you can helm a boat in a brisk wind, feel it heeling and have the spray being whipped up around you. Or if you just want to sail effortlessly in a light breeze we can get you started.
