Intensive but fun!

That is the aim of the English summer courses offered at Lines, and if the number of staff and students that return each year are anything to go by then we can't be far off reaching our objectives.

The teaching posts at Lines will suit you if you prefer to spend more time in the classroom and less on the activities. Your aim will be to do your utmost to ensure the students make maximum progress in their English and also have a wonderful summer.

Lines is an internationally renowned organisation, specialising in residential complete immersion programmes for teenagers. We run three centres for juniors, French in Paris and English at Downe House near Newbury in Berkshire and Queenswood in Hatfield Hertfordshire.

Students come from South America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe. We receive a significant proportion of students from International Schools world-wide. These students are already in English medium schools and are preparing for total immersion in mainstream classes.

Students are in class all day until 5.15 pm on four days per week. Senior students are also offered 8 optional workshops per week. Then the activity staff take over. Students have full day excursions on one weekday (accompanied by the teachers) and Sundays (accompanied by activity staff).
