About us

For more than 35 years, we've been helping young people from all over the world to improve their command of English. During this time, over 50,000 students have spent the summer with us and, in the process, have enjoyed a complete English experience.

They've sampled our culture, visited many of our famous landmarks and, above all, discovered that learning a language can be enormous fun.

A modern approach

All languages are constantly changing and English is no exception. With this in mind, we go to great lengths to make sure that our courses are constantly being updated. To do this, we have a team of language experts with over sixty years' experience between them. Their task is to make sure that students learn the most current form of English. And that it's learnt in the most stimulating and enjoyable way.

Course material is re-written on average every four years and it includes a Student Activity Book that is unique to us. Covering all sorts of up-to-the-minute topics like film, sport, music and technology, it also reinforces what students will be seeing and doing on excursions.

The very best schools and colleges

We take enormous care in choosing our centres. For Young Learner residential students, only prestigious boarding schools are considered and we look at everything they have to offer - from their location through to their range of facilities

A prime example of this is Rugby, taking its name from the historic market town, and based in an area known as the Heart of England. It is one of the oldest and most famous schools in England, founded in 1567 during the reign of Elizabeth I. As well as its splendid history, reflected in its stately buildings, classrooms and courtyards, Rugby School also offers an extensive range of facilities such as a 25-metre, 6-lane swimming pool; a large sports hall for badminton, 5-a-side football, volleyball and basketball; two outdoor all-weather, floodlit, synthetic pitches and 13 rugby/ soccer pitches to name but a few.

Locations

Our summer schools could hardly be better situated. Whichever centre you choose, you'll find yourself within easy reach of some of England's most historic towns and cities.

Our Staff

At our Young Learner residential centres, in overall charge of each centre is a Course Director, whose job it is to ensure the successful management of the course. He/she works with other senior staff comprising Housemasters/Housemistresses responsible for boarding house arrangements and managed by a Senior Housemaster/Housemistress, a Recreation Director and a Director of Studies who have responsibility for the recreation and academic programmes respectively.

EFL teachers are appointed on the basis of one teacher per 13 - 14 students (one per nine at Rugby). The combined staff to student ratio is 1 : 6, which includes sports instructors and specialist recreation teachers who are involved in the recreation programme.
